3 Tips for Moms Heading Back to Work After Baby | Bella Baby Photography

For moms going back to work after maternity leave, the transition can be stressful on both mom and baby. Bella Baby Photography would like to let you know you’re not alone, mom, and offer a few tips to make this life change a bit easier.

Practice Better Time Management
Before you head back to work after having your baby, review your regular routine and try altering your approach to get more done in less time. You might focus on a single project for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break, and move into your next 25 minute session. Or, you could schedule your time in such a way that you do all of your similar tasks together. If you are lucky enough to have childcare for a large chunk of time, use it to work on projects that require the most concentration.

Do a Few Test-Runs
Once you create a new schedule, give it done run-throughs to see if you run into any particular hiccups. Practice the commute (if you have one) and make sure you pack any special supplies you might need (like a breast pump). If you’re dropping off your baby for childcare, be sure to write out detailed instructions on feeding, and anything else that you want the care providers to know. If you’ve hired someone to work in your home for childcare, it’s best to invite them the week before you’re due to begin work. That way they can get used to your home and baby, while you can get used to their care style.

Take it Easy–As Much as You Can!
For most moms, it makes sense to get back to work slowly. Don’t feel the need to jump right into a full time schedule. Instead start off part time until you feel more confident in juggling all of your new roles.
Remember, you can transition back to work slowly. The most important thing is that you and baby get this transition with at least stress as possible.
